In the middle of a week or so of good weather, it was good fortune that a Pub Night had been arranged, for which the advertising said ‘hopefully in the garden’. And so it was – one of those rare balmy summer evenings that  was neither hot nor cold but just perfect, with the setting sun casting a wonderful light over the proceedings. Too many people to count, and many coming for the first time, some Gedding Road newcomers amongst them. We were still sitting out after 10pm.
