As a result of the fire in September 2010 Drinkstone did not have a village hall for nearly 3 years. The Village Hall Committee still managed to run the Sale Trail and the Village Fete with a lot of help and support from local residents.
May 5th – Sale Trail
On May 5th, after days and days of rain, it all stopped for the Sale Trail and it brought huge crowds into Drinkstone. There were so many cars, we ran out of maps at one point. A record 33 garages were open for business and there are good reports of successful day’s selling.
The Village Hall committee were selling items to raise funds at a garage location, as well as in the church, which also saw a very busy day. The refreshments stall did a roaring trade, as did the Cake Stall. All in all, a great day, which raised over £1,000 for Village Hall funds. Click here for photos taken in and around the church.
September 16th Drinkstone Fete and Fun Dog Show
Another hugely successful event on September 16th for the Village Hall Fund Raising team. Even more people (and dogs!) than last year, the weather was kind, with the afternoon turning out to be gloriously sunny, the atmosphere was great and it made lots of money, too. Over £2,200 and still counting. A big thank you to everyone who helped in any way, and especially to those who came, supported it and spent their money! Here’s a link to lots of photos. Click here
