A good crowd of children, parents and dogs turned up at All Saints with frying pans at the ready to collect pancakes ready for the race to Woolpit Church. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\"><b><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 March 24th Bishop\u2019s visit<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">It was Palm Sunday and Bishop Clive came to Drinkstone for a very special Celebration Service. Not only were we delighted to have him take our Palm Sunday service, but he was also there to bless the newly made cushion for the \u2018Bishop\u2019s Chair\u2019. He noted it was probably a \u2018first\u2019 to have snow on Palm Sunday, but it didn\u2019t stop the traditional procession singing \u2018Make Way\u2019. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 March 31st Easter Sunday<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">We celebrated the Resurrection with Christians all round the world. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">\u00a02<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">013 May 12th Presentation to David Ford<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P0\"><span class=\"Normal-C\"><b><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">David Ford retired <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">after an amazing 17 years as All Saints Treasurer. David\u2019s attention to detail and his clear and accurate reporting will be sadly missed. \u00a0At the service on Sunday, May 12th, he and Rosemarie were presented with a case of wine, and garden vouchers to help them fill up their newly expanded garden. (Can\u2019t have him with nothing to do!) So a hearty \u2018thank you\u2019 to David, for his dedication and fantastic service to All Saints Church. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">We are indebted to Tony Schmitt, to whom David will be handing over the reins over the next few months and offer him a very warm welcome.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 June 15th OPEN GARDENS<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">All Saints organised an Open Gardens event on June 15th. 20 gardens were open and over 200 people bought tickets &#8211; a fantastic day and a great success. Read all about it on the Open Gardens <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.drinkstonevillage.co.uk\/allsaints\/open-gardens-archive\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 September 15th PATIO PRAISE<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">A decision was taken to have a shortened version of the 9.30am service at the Village Hall site amidst setting up for the Drinkstone Fete. The intention was to surround the Fete with prayer and to be truly church that was right there IN the community. It also allowed those members of the members of the congregation who were assisting with the Fete to be on hand straight after the service! It was cool and breezy, but we were lucky with the early morning sun. \u00a0It was well received and worth thinking about doing it again. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 October 31st HALLOWE\u2019EN Party<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Around 20 children and their parents descended on All Saints for the Annual Hallowe\u2019en party, long appreciated by parents as a safe way of letting their children enjoy all the Hallowe\u2019en activities but in a safe environment. There were lots of scary costumes, some great crafts, pumpkin carving and the eagerly awaited Treasure Hunt around the churchyard in the dark. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><b><\/b><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 November 10th Remembrance Service<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">A crowded church, as usual, for this always moving service. Even though Drinkstone RBL branch is so small it had to be combined with another village, and the number of RBL members on parade is now down to three, it is still essential to remember. Service personnel are still giving their lives in conflicts all over the world. A \u00a0very special moving moment this year came just at the closing verse of \u2019Abide with me\u2019, which has the line \u2018Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies\u2019. At that moment the Cross on the wall was lit by a shaft of sunlight, while all around it was in the gloom. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><b><\/b><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 December 1st Me, You and Christingle 2<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Rather than the usual MYB2, we opted for a service, with some elements of a MYB2 session to accommodate everyone\u2019s wishes (hopefully!) So there was breakfast first, followed by a very informal service, where the Bible reading slot became a Reflective story in the style of MYB2. Prayers followed the same format, too, with our prayers written on orange shapes and pinned to a giant Christingle. And the craft activities &#8211; well, that was the Christingle, of course! We added some songs, much enjoyed by the very youngest there! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2013 December 22nd Carol Service<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Once again there was standing room only, with the familiar story and well loved carols. There was a slightly different Nativity tableau this year, with a grand procession accompanied by Keith playing \u2018Little Donkey\u2019 on his melodeon, after which we had a beautiful rendition of \u2018Silent Night\u2019 by Georgina, and original Christmas poems by four of the children.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To view the\u00a0 photos for these events, click here. 2013 February 9th Pancake Race Saturday 9th February was very cold, but the SUN WAS SHINING!
