Some great singing and playing, of course, but also a monologue, a double hander (Drinkstone\u2019s version of Hinge and Bracket!), and a performing horse\u2014 yes, really! A great night all round that raised over \u00a3400 for All Saints Church. Thank you to Sheila, all the helpers and especially the performers. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2014 March 29th Salvation Army Band concert<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">A packed village hall for the band and songsters &#8211; a wonderful evening, followed by a fantastic array of cakes. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2014 March 30th Mothering Sunday<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P0\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Not as many children as in previous years, but plenty of Mums! The children that were there helped with the prayers, and gave out the all-important posies, made this year by Sue Medcalf, to all the Mums there, \u00a0The flowers for the posies came from the Medcalfs\u2019 garden. An invitation was issued to go and take a look, in all its spring flowering glory.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P0\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2014 June 21st Midsummer Madness Concert in the Village Hall<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">A large number of Drinkstone folk ranging from youngsters under 8 to oldies over 70 gathered together to put on a fine and varied show, displaying instrumental talents on piano, guitar, harmonica, cello and violin with some fine singing, too. We had group performances, solos and duos &#8211; there was even an impromptu group of backing dancers\/singers! An enthusiastic audience helped things along very well, the whole evening raising \u00a3375 \u00a0for All Saints Fabric Fund. What a talented and generous community we have in Drinkstone!<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C1\"><b><span style=\"color: #898989; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"> P<\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">hotos <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/1drv.ms\/1j540GN\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2014 October 3rd Harvest Supper<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">There was a very happy gathering in the Village Hall, enjoying the first Harvest <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Supper since the fire that put paid to the old hall, marked by it being the final supper that Cora would arrange. She was stepping down after 30 years for a well earned rest. Thanks were extended to her for arranging the supper over the years and the occasion was marked with a gift and flowers, presented by Ruth.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">It was a particular pleasure to see a number of new residents among the 60 or so who enjoyed succulent turkey and ham with various salads, followed by delicious fruit crumbles. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Occasions like this are usually a team effort, and a big thank you to all the people who helped set up the hall, prepare and serve the food and then clear away again afterwards, with a special mention for Carol Robinson, who worked incredibly hard in the kitchen, as always. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2014 November 26th All Saints Christmas Coffee Morning<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">After a break last year when we had a Christmas Wreath Workshop, the Coffee Morning was back with a vengeance, this time courtesy of Julia Fiddes, who let us take over Hammond Hall with tables groaning with cakes and produce, raffle prizes, hamper contents, gifts and pre-loved item, not to mention the Christmas Cake Raffle, the Quiz and all the delicious refreshments. It all made for yet another fantastic, sociable morning with more people than ever dropping in during the two hour period. A record figure in excess of \u00a3900 was raised for the work of All Saints. These photos will give the flavour of the morning. Surprise guest Elaine treated the crowd to a couple of solos, and even managed to coerce Paul Howe into dancing with her. It was lovely to see many new faces from the village and surrounding areas. If you weren\u2019t there, you missed a treat\u2014watch out for next year\u2019s date!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C\"><b><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">2014 December 21st Carol Service<\/span> <\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">On December 21st, the children were once again the stars of the nativity tableau with solos, group singing and readings. They were all amazing but special thanks to Georgie Pailes and Lauren Evans, both representing the Youth Club. The rest of the service was good too, especially Rev\u2019d Ruth\u2019s updated Chocolate Nativity\u2014yes, you had to have been there! Mulled wine and mince pies brought a very happy occasion to a close. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2014 December Village Lunch<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">A breather from the busyness! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><b><\/b><span class=\"Normal-C\" style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">2014 Christmas Day at All Saints<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C0\"><span style=\"color: #4c4c4c; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">A lovely service that captured the joy of the season and the fun that families and children bring!
