{"id":636,"date":"2019-12-28T13:45:46","date_gmt":"2019-12-28T13:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.drinkstonevillage.co.uk\/allsaints\/?p=636"},"modified":"2019-12-28T13:46:33","modified_gmt":"2019-12-28T13:46:33","slug":"2019-carol-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drinkstonevillage.co.uk\/allsaints\/uncategorized\/2019-carol-service\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Carol Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">The Carol Service is always a memorable occasion, with the \u2018Ahhhh\u2019 moments usually being provided by the children\u2019s Nativity tableau \u2013 but we did something different this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">The story was about a dog who wanted to give something special to Jesus. He thought he could join the angels maybe, or the shepherds, or perhaps the kings. But it was clear that none of these were going to be possible \u2013 for some rather hilarious reasons. In the end, he decide to just be himself and do what dogs do so well; he curled up at the Baby Jesus\u2019 feet and kept him warm. \u00a0And that\u2019s what we need to do \u2013 be ourselves and do what we can. As the Carol puts it: \u2018Yet what I can I give him, give my heart\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">The children were asked to come dressed as their favourite animal, which lent itself to an excellent photo <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/1drv.ms\/u\/s!Apq9UcILQAbuoUFGgkGpu3p-_Fkq?e=pfubfD\" target=\"_blank\">opportunity<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, which included two brave adults\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">As in other years, we managed to put together a scratch four part choir, accompanied by the very clever Calvin on keyboard, and the amazing Astrid on oboe, which according to the congregation, sounded really rather super.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">We had mulled wine and mice pies afterwards, along with flapjacks and assorted\u00a0 cakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Carol Service is always a memorable occasion, with the \u2018Ahhhh\u2019 moments usually being provided by the children\u2019s Nativity tableau \u2013 but we did something different this year.
